A memorable day for Don Bosco SIHARAM.

English for Empowerment and Employment
9th Feb. 2013 was a memorable day for Don Bosco SIHARAM, Thiruvannamalai as it crossed another milestone in the empowerment of rural youth. On this day students from the 1st batch of 3E (English for Empowerment and Employment) were awarded the "Certificate in Professional Communication”. They underwent exclusive residential training in communicative English, soft skills and basic computing skills for the past 6 months. We could easily compare the journey of these youngsters to a ‘larva to butterfly’ transformation! We wish them all success.

3E (Don Bosco Institute for Professional English)
For the first time in the Province of Chennai a totally residential Professional spoken English training for six months has been officially inaugurated on 3rd August 2012, at Don Bosco SIHARAM, Thiruvannamalai. Rev. Fr. Antonyraj sdb,(Vice Provincial-INM), Rev. Maria Arockiaraj sdb, (HOD, Dept. of English, Sacred Heart College), Rev. Fr. Francis Xavier (Parish Priest, Thiruvannamalai, Rev. Fr. Joseph Leo sdb, (Director, DB Vazhikaatti)Rev. Bro. Anandaraj sdb (English Teacher, Don Bosco, Perambur) were the guests of honour at the launching of this innovative programme. It is offered under the brand name 3E (English for Empowerment and Employment) with the course title "Certificate in Professional Communication” (CPC).

It is directly addressing the need of the rural poor youth who get well educated but lack essential skills in communication and thereby loose many golden employment opportunities in leading companies. In this first batch we have 35 students, they will be systematically equipped with speaking, reading, writing and listening skills in English and additionally they will be empowered with soft skills along with basic Computing skills. Job placement will also be facilitated after the course completion. We are also contemplating on introducing weekend courses and part time courses as and when the demand arises.
